Iceage released You’re Nothing in 2013, 2 years after their debut album, New Brigade. They’re a young group, each member averaging the tender age of 17 years when they released their first material in 2007. Now they are in their early 2o’s. It’s incredible to think how mature the bands writing is for their age. The album features depressing ballads with noisy guitars and complex drum rotations. The front man Elias Bender Ronnenfelt sings with a dragginess to it  that sounds like he’s waterlogged, and it adds to the emotion of the album. With this album, compared to their last, it’s louder, heavier, sadder, and much better.

The first track off this record, Ecstasy,  is a dance track with loud guitar riffs and a fast tempo. Ronnenfelt’s melancholy lyrics describe the pressure he handles. The next song, Coalition, is a little faster and talks about a girl who is possibly attracted to him. There is no build up; it goes straight to the obnoxious guitar and drums. My favorite song on this LP has to be Morals. It starts off with a heavy bass riff that syncs with the drums. Then Ronnenfelt ends it with wretched lyrics and an amazing piano riff.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. I love this album and it’s definitely my favorite punk album. But, strangely enough, it’s not even my favorite Iceage record. How is this possible you’re asking? Let’s just say I wouldn’t classify their next album punk. This album to me is an A-.
