Bentonville’s FFA teams took home several wins last Thursday from the Arkansas State FFA CDE convention.

The agriculture communications team, Seniors Macy Alexander and Rachael Gierke and Juniors Bailey Brumbelow and Morgan Hasler, achieved first place in the state of Arkansas. Individually, Hasler won 2nd; Gierke was 8th; Alexander was 18th, and Brumbelow was 19th.

The team edited news stories, took an AP style test and did a variety of practicums which were graded by judges.

“I’m so proud of the girls! This is the first time Bentonville FFA has had a team place first at state in almost 20 years. We have so many incredible opportunities ahead for us since we will be competing at nationals!” Junior Morgan Hasler said.

They will be heading to the FFA National Convention to compete against other states. The convention will take place in October in Indianapolis, IN.

The veterinary science team, Juniors Elizabeth Mantel, Keaton Chapman, Lily Worley and Megan Greenslade, took home ninth place out of 24 competitors.

Junior Morgan Hasler participated in the World Food Prize Youth Institute contest. Her and 12 other contestants had to write papers covering agriculture in developing countries, and then discuss it among a panel of judges.

Hasler achieved a scholar award and is eligible to intern with the USDA every summer while enrolled in an university.
