North Dakota Pipeline is Rerouted

After months of protesting, Sioux tribe members cheered and celebrated in success. The Army Corp of Engineers decided to reroute the North Dakota Pipeline. The tribe and it’s supporters have been camping out at the North Dakota Pipeline saying that construction of the pipeline will damage their water supply on their reservations. They sat through months of cold weather and even stayed put on Thanksgiving.

“I am so glad that the pipeline has been rerouted. Native Americans don’t deserve to have this pipeline built on their reservations.” Senior Jalen Mejia said.

The activists are worried that when Trump takes office that his administration will change the decision to reroute the pipeline due to his previous support for the pipeline.

For now, the Sioux members celebrate and return back to their homes because of the harsh weather.
